Life Outside the Theatre

Well, indeed, there is life outside the walls of the theatre. I've been couped up inside working on "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing" for the last several weeks - but most intently this last week. We opened on Friday to a great crowd, then two more performances on Saturday and another on Sunday. I've forgotten how exhausting 4 shows in a weekend can be - and I'm not even the one up on stage....

I'm so proud of all my kiddos and big people - 16 in all! They have worked so hard and come so far and have made Judy Blume's classic come alive. If you don't remember the title - it's the story of the Hatcher family (Peter, Fudge, Mom, and Dad). Little brother Fudge annoys Peter to death as he's caught between growing up and still being a kid - taking on responsibility and not wanting it at the same time. Peter wins a turtle at a birthday party, and Fudge's goal in life is to claim Dribble as his own. Along the way, he figures out how not to eat, visit the dentist, get new shoes, or show off his manners. The scene shown here is a touching moment where Mom realizes she has blamed Peter for something he didn't do and that Peter is really still a kid even though she wants to treat him like an adult.
